Sculpture - LIFE (small)
Steel, Pennsylvania Black Slate Wheels, Naturally-acquired Rust Patina, Hand-brushed Penetrol Oil.
My sculpture, LIFE, happens to be a metaphorical look at myself at a particular moment in my life. A self-portrait, if you will. I think many of us can relate to its inference. The piece does move, as well,.....the free-turning slate wheels allow it to roll along - now, how fun is that?
Handsomely crafted from heavy steel plate and accented with Pennsylvania black slate wheels, LIFE is one of my most popular metal sculptures. A whimsical accent for the home entrance, foyer, fireplace mantle, garden wall, or your own special place to reflect on life.

CERTIFICATION OF AUTHENTICITY
Each work of art is signed by Lisa Fedon.
I start out by hand-cutting individual pieces from heavy steel plate using my plasma cutter. Then I grind the rough edges and assemble the pieces together using my tig welder. The fabricated piece is then cleaned with salt & vinegar to start the metal oxidation process, and then placed outside exposed to the elements to develop its unique, naturally-acquired rust patina. After several days of oxidation, I wash and clean the piece with water, let it dry, and then hand-brush two coats of Penetrol - a metal sealing oil that dries hard to a rich glossy finish. I then add locally quarried round pieces of black slate as wheels.
Each piece has its own rust patina character so no two items will be exactly alike. If left outside exposed to the elements, this piece will age with time. If one desires, Penetrol oil can be applied once a year to maintain the lustre appearance.
